ABOUT

My Yoga Journey

I started practicing yoga when I was a teenager. My mom took me to a hot yoga class and I absolutely hated it. I’ve always been stubborn and had to come back to yoga later on my own terms.  My yoga journey started to get serious when I started volunteering my time at a studio in my neighbourhood. I was looking for a sense of community in Vancouver as I was new to the city.

For years I practiced purely for fitness and flexibility, but I soon realized yoga was benefiting my mental well-being more than anything else I had tried.  I craved getting back on the mat to feel the change in my thought processes.  I’ve struggled with anxiety for as long as I can remember and yoga has been the most effective tool I’ve found for myself to loosen the hold that my anxious mind has over me.

I started using yoga as a way to step back and get perspective.

Yoga has offered me many more benefits such as:

  • The freedom to feel good in my body.
  • Enhanced proprioception which is helpful for all the dancing I love to do.
  • The first real sense of community with people that I’ve ever felt.
  • Intentional asana practice can be a way to get fired up when I’m feeling low or a way to calm down when I’m too stressed out.
  • My classes are designed with all this in mind.  Come to the mat and discover your most natural, authentic, here-in-the-moment self.  Practice with me to stop doing and just be

My intention is to support my students to strengthen the connection between their physical, mental, and emotional bodies so that they can more confidently trust themselves.

A Bit About Me

When I’m not practicing yoga or working at the studio, I love the outdoors, traveling, connecting with people, music, and expressing myself through movement. I love to hike mountains, swim in the ocean, and to explore new places. I’ve always had a passion for traveling and have learned so much about myself by experiencing different cultures and putting myself in new unfamiliar situations.

I feel that every piece of your life, from the words you say, to the way you walk, to the way you make your coffee, is an artistic and unique expression of you. I’m so curious about people and the way they think. That’s why I feel so lucky to have been able to work jobs where I get to talk with people about their experiences, but I’m also lucky enough to see and feel people physically move through their own battles on the mat and the massage table. I feel honoured to be a part of that process and hopefully can be a support through those turbulent times as well.

Stay in touch!

In the future, I hope to run yoga retreats in beautiful, mostly outdoor settings where we can give ourselves space from our daily routines to tend to the fire in each of our hearts. I want to create spaces of connection where people feel empowered to look inwards and supported enough to let their inner feelings be expressed and seen.
